How to get ride from houseflies

The house flies are the common flies which  present in and around homes. It has a worldwide distribution and is prominent in the Nepal. House flies are not only irritating pests while buzzing around us, but they are potential disease carriers. All we know is, they have short lifespans, but can reproduce geometrically in large numbers, that leads to uncontrol increment in population.

 

Health effect

The houseflies are the irritating insects which acts as a vector carrier of diseases.  Some flies carries germs or bacteria which leads to the diseases such as 

• Dysentery
• Diarrhoea
• Typhoid fever
• Cholera
• Epidemic conjunctivitis

So, everyone should focus on reducing the contact between flies and human beings. Further, it is also irritating our domestic animals such as cow 🐄, goat 🐐, buffalo 🐃, dog 🐕 etc. Houseflies are more attracted towards  sweets, dirts, milk, fruits as well as gutters and sewage. Houseflies attach to the body of animal and take their blood, but if they landed on the materials, they start to take their food from that. Flies are extremely attracted towards carcasses.

As a consequences, if houseflies landed firstly  on the dirty things and secondly flies to the food dishes, this results the abnormalities in our body if we consume contaminated food.

Houseflies should be reduce by implementing various techniques. 

Cleaning home regularly

Individual should check and clean following places in home, such as

• floors
• Bathroom sinks
• drains
• inside garbage containers
• under appliances, such as  washing machine, refrigerators
• Holes or cracks in floor or wall tiles where bacteria might grow

If some where water is collected, there might be growth of insects like flies. So this is the best way to decline their population is destroying their growing medium.

Uses of fly trap

There are various types of traps available in the market. Such as 

• Traps that use a small voltage electrical current to zap flies.
• Light traps that use uv light to attract flies and a glue board to trap them. They are most effective against larger flies.

• Traps that use bait to attract flies, such as honey or other sweet scents.

Devices that use pheromones to draw flies. These flytraps are useful for identifying an infestation, but they rarely get rid of the problem.

Uses of pesticides

Among other techniques, uses of pesticides are the effective way to control flies. 

1. Baygun

This insectide are very much effective. Inside this packet, sugars are covered wtth dust poison. If we dissolve this poison into the milk and put it in the dishware, consequently houseflies are attracted in the mixture and got died. 

This poison doesn't kill vertebrates if mistakely touched or contaminated, but may be suffer from diarrhoea.

2. K -cythrin

The cypermethrin contained liquid when diluted with water and sprayed all over the houses as well as nearby houses is very effective to destroy the flies.

This insectide is also use on the cow, goat. The process of using this poison is mixing with mustard oil and pestle on the fur of animal.
